We are excited to announce the latest book by one of Criswell College’s professors. Heaven on Earth: Experiencing the Kingdom of God In the Here and Now, written by Dr. R. Alan Streett, is set to release on April 1, 2013.
Dr. Streett serves as the Senior Research Professor of Biblical Exegesis at Criswell. He has served for years as a professor and editor of the Criswell Theological Review and has also served as a pastor. Dr. Streett, a Doctor of Philosophy graduate from the University of Wales, also has published numberous books, chapter contributions, and articles at both the academic and popular levels.
Dr. Streett describes the new book below:
Heaven On Earth: Experiencing the Kingdom of God In the Here and Now is popularly written and aimed at an audience of informed laypeople, theological students, and pastors. In it, I present the Kingdom of God as the grand narrative of the Bible (from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22) and cover a variety of subjects, including the eschatological giving of the Holy Spirit, baptism as a pledge of allegiance to King Jesus, kingdom ethics, hearing the voice of God, biblical healings and exorcisms as enacted prophecies/parables of the kingdom, non-violent resistance to evil, American flags in the pulpit, the church as an embassy of the kingdom, the Lord’s Supper as a proleptic kingdom meal, and what it means to be a kingdom-focused church.
New Testament scholar Peter Davids has this to say about the book:
At the end of the work one wants to stand and sing the “Hallelujah Chorus.”
